So Friday was the premiere of my episode of "Premium Blend" on Comedy Central. I hadn't seen the edited version of my set before it aired - the tape arrived at my apartment as I was walking out the door to meet some friends for dinner on Friday night, and at that point I figured I could wait another two hours - so I was obviously a little apprehensive. Overall, I thought it came out pretty good. It was pretty short - Pete Holmes and I discussed how going third seems to be the "bitch spot" (his phrase, Mom, not mine!) for some reason because he was third on his episode, too, and his spot was really short as well. But for the most part, they kept in the jokes I would've kept and cut the ones I would've cut. The one joke I would've liked to see them air was the one about the poster on the subway that says "You Can't Find a Better Place to Live", which might be my favorite joke that I've written, but it might be a little regional, I guess, since it's about New Jersey.
The one part which was kind of embarassing was going into the commercial before my set, they showed a little snippet of a backstage interview they did with me before I went on. I should've known they were going to take what I said out of context and watched what I said very carefully, but of course I'm not that prescient. So in the clip they showed of me, I said, "I'm just going to go out there and...kick some ass, yeah..." Now, anyone who knows me would know that I was being sarcastic. But if you didn't know me, you might think I was being cocky. And even if you did know I was being sarcastic, it's really not all that clever a thing to say. Either way, I thought I came off like a pretty big dork...which I guess is a pretty accurate representation, but still, I wish I would've thought of something cooler to say.
Overall, though, I was pretty happy with it...not to fish for compliments or anything, but what did you guys think?

I'm actually watching it right now, and your performance inspired me to search for your name. So, here I am...

Whodathunkit, passing out before another day on the grind, trying to laugh myself to sleep on Comedy Central, and suddenly "Matt Goldich" is offering me an Advil!
Awesome, Mazel Tov!

I hope you find my remarks to be objective, but you rocked out. Consistent laughs. What I'm more interested in finding out what you thought of the other guys. Pretty much reminded me why I never watch standup comedy.
