RANDOM STUFF:
- Make sure to buy the new book "Bar Mitzvah Disco".
There is a picture from my Bar Mitzvah in there and an essay I wrote
about Bar Mitzvah games like the limbo and Coke and Pepsi. Also check
out this New York Times article
about the book.
- Great Eagles game on Sunday. They were in the process of blowing it
with about four minutes left when the CBS affiliate in New York
switched to the Giants game. I ran to the bar across the street just in
time to see them block a field goal and return it for the winning
touchdown. Unbelievable ending. - Saw "A History of Violence" this
weekend with my brother. Everyone is raving about this movie but we
both agreed that it was awful. There were so many completely
implausible plot twists, holes in the story, and over-the-top
performances that it was impossible to take the movie seriously. My
apologies to the other people in the theater who were trying to enjoy
the film while we were laughing and making sarcastic comments.
- I also went to a sumo wrestling event this weekend at Madison Square
Garden. Definitely fun, even though most of the wrestlers were not
Japanese, and some of them weren't even that big. Sumo matches are
extremely brief, but I didn't care that much because there were so many
of them and most of them featured competitiors of different body types,
making it interesting to watch. The production values probably could
have been better but the crowd was still really into it. Not sure if
I'd go again but cool to see once.
- We just had a fire drill here at work. From now on I think all fire
drills should be combined with sexual harassment seminars. Why not kill
two birds with one stone?
