COMIC STRIP REPORT: I had a good
set at the Strip tonight, nothing like the amazing set from two weeks
ago, but still had a good time. Met with the owner of the club - he was
very encouraging and gave me some helpful feedback on how to improve.
Big props to the fearsome foursome of G-berg, Max, Fox, and Sam for
coming out to support.
FREE ZAGAT GUIDE: Goldberg reports that you can get a
free Zagat guide
of NYC restaurants by voting on restaurants on their website. I did it,
it's quick and easy, and the Zagat guide is a great resource.
Especially if a family friend is going to be in town and you need a
good restaurant to take them to.
FREE STUFF - MAYBE???: I was going to brag about all the free
stuff I get in today's entry...but now I discover I may actually be
paying for AOL, which I thought I'd been receiving for free (does Ted
Leonsis read CGTS?). I'll wait on this until I figure out what's up -
wouldn't want any bad karma.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: This week's SNL was another mediocre
episode in a subpar season. There was however, an outrageously funny
and offensive "TV Funhouse" cartoon from Robert Smigel, maybe his best
ever. One moment in particular, the commercial for "Rocks", was
probably the most tasteless thing I've ever seen on network TV, and it
cracked me up. It's really beyond description, you have to see it. If
anyone can find the clip on the web and send it to me, I'll post in on
the blog.
SEINFELD MINUTIAE: Zeidel points out that in one episode, when
George asks Kramer whether he pees in the shower, he replies that he
takes baths. But then, in the episode where low-flow shower heads are
installed, Kramer complains about having to take a bath, calling it,
"sitting in a pool of his own filth". Zeidel claims it's a mistake, I
attribute it to the inherent unpredictability of Kramer. Either way, we
are both losers for even discussing it.
TOMORROW: I am acting in my next-door neighbor's student film
during the day, so perhaps I'll have some fun stories from that. And
I'll let you know whether or not I am still the master of getting free
stuff. Plus, my interview with Chunky A...and if you know who that is,
you really are a loser.
