CAUSE CELEB
I'm going to devote today's blog entry to the hilarious exploits of my
good friend Adam Zeidel. Last Tuesday Adam received a "personal" e-mail
from Rob Reiner asking him to contribute money to Howard Dean's
campaign. To which Adam responded:
Rob - Great to hear from you. Have you gotten a chance to read that
script I sent you? Let me know your thoughts and I'll let you know who
I will support for President. I like Dean, but there are, of course, "a
few good men" out there as candidates.
I loved you as "meathead",
Adam Zeidel.
Adam cc'd me and a few other friends on the e-mail. I wanted to tell
them all how funny I thought it was, so I hit "Reply to All" and wrote
something to the effect of "This is hilarious...good for you." I didn't
realize that my congratulatory e-mail had also been sent to the Dean
campaign. About five minutes later I got this e-mail back from them:
THANK YOU FOR CONTACTING DEAN FOR AMERICA
We appreciate your interest in Governor Howard Dean, M.D. Your input is
vital
to us because it is voters like you who help fuel this campaign and
will lead us
to victory in 2004! We cannot answer every e-mail individually due to
the enormous grassroots
support for Governor Howard Dean. Many Policy Questions can be answered
by
visiting our On the Issues section and the Pressroom accessible from
the
left side of our homepage (www.deanforamerica.com).
Thank you for taking the time to e-mail the campaign. Together, we are
going to
put forth a new vision for America and take this country back in 2004!
YOU HAVE THE POWER TO TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK!
Then, on Friday, Adam received another e-mail asking for money from the
Dean campaign, this one from Martin Sheen, to which he replied:
Mr. Sheen - Thank you for your kind message urging me to vote for
Howard Dean. Rest assured, though, sir that I will not vote for another
candidate for President while you are still in office. Despite the
tragic loss of your daughter, I know that you are fit to govern and I
stand resolute behind your leadership. We must not allow John Goodman
to usurp the direction of our great country. Maybe when he was on
Rosanne I would have accepted him as the leader of the free world. But
after having seen him play Uncle Sweetheart in the film "Masked and
Anonymous", I do not think he is worthy of the post.
President Sheen, a good friend of ours, Rob Reiner, also encouraged me
to support Dr. Dean. Given Rob's familiarity with the military and
friendly relationships between men and women that become something
more, I believed his advice to be sound. However, now that I see your
personal pain during a time of crisis, I realize that I cannot betray
my commitment to you. Despite your urgings, I will not support Dr. Dean
as long as President Sheen is capable and available for the great
responsibility of leading our country.
May God continue to bless America,
Adam Zeidel
I will keep you posted on any further developments in the Zeidel v.
Hollywood Do-Gooders situation. Now back to your
